ADVENTURE AQUARIUM

The new Barbie movie comes out Friday (and there are lots of Barbie-themed events and parties happening) and Shark Week starts Sunday! You can get up close and personal with sharks at Adventure Aquarium during Shark Summer. Here’s what else is happening this weekend in NJ:

WEEKEND

Burlington County Farm Fair
Burlington County Fairgrounds, Columbus
Through Saturday
Come by for opening night and stay for the fireworks. There will be lots of barnyard animals on display. On Saturday, watch the cows compete in a dairy show. Horse shows are daily, but a Draft Horse Pull where majestic draft horses from different states will perform. There will also be a tractor pull. Extra special for kids is the Farmer for a Day exhibit.

Cape May County 4-H Foundation Fair
4-H Fairgrounds, Cape May Court House
Thursday – Saturday
The fair provides a showplace for the work of the youth members of Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s 4‑H Youth Development Program. The event is planned, managed and operated by volunteers, 4‑H members and their parents and friends. Expect lots of demos, barnyard animals, activities for kids and food vendors.

The MAC Players present a tale from Bikini Bottom. When they discover that a volcano will soon erupt, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save their home.

KIDZ BOP: Never Stop Live Tour

JCFamilies hosts an afternoon of gigantic bubbles, kids’ yoga, arts and crafts, dance performances and food vendors. There will also be a woman-owned business vendor showcase.

The Guthrie Brothers

The concert features music from the best duos of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

Jump Into Pictures: Opening Night
West Windsor Arts, Princeton Jct.
The exhibition features illustrations geared toward kids 14 and under. You’ll see lots of children’s books that play a role in kids’ development. Tonight is the opening reception for the exhibit, which runs through August 26.

There will be ticketed workshops, activities, live music, and a chance to learn more about the 579 Trail initiative. Get samples from different businesses selling hard cider, eggs, farm-raised meats, regenerative produce, cheese, milk, alpaca goods, fresh lavender, seasonal fruit and ice cream. Workshops include smudge sticks, forest bathing and yoga.

National Day of the Cowboy

During a whole day of Western fun, see guns spin, ropes twirl, whips crack and a whole lot more. Expect a lot of live-action drama and demos by craftsmen from the time. You can ride the Wild West City stagecoach or younger buckaroos can hop on a pony. Head on down to Egan’s Gold Mine and try your luck striking gold or visit the barnyard critters next to the Gold Mine.

Virtua will provide sunset hayrides to the picking fields, where you can cut your own sunflowers. There will also be live music, food trucks and a Tomasello Winery Tasting Room. Proceeds will be donated to the NICU & Special Care Nursery at the wellness center in New Hanover.

The exhibition features the iconic moments, characters, settings and beasts seen in the films and stories of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and also includes the costumes, props and imagery from the Broadway production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. You can choose a Patronus, cast a spell, test their Quidditch skills, and brew potions while you’re there.

Live music will be from Your Mom’s Hot and new this year will be live jazz music from Hunter Hays – plus DJ Allstar Spotlight.

The bike park at Mountain Creek has 52 downhill trails that challenge everyone from first-time bikers to downhill professional racers. Zip tours feature a series of ziplines ranging from 200 feet to 1,500 feet in length. On Wednesday, May 17, the bike park opens for the season at Mountain Creek, followed by the opening of the zipline tours on May 27.

T-Rex Takeover
Field Station: Dinosaurs, Leonia

The park will be home to more than 30 larger-than-life-sized dinosaurs and includes the Jurassic Jump attraction, activities like dino trivia or feeding a T-Rex, time to speak with actual paleontologists and a scavenger hunt.

Aerial Adventure Park Night Climb
Great Gorge Golf Club, Vernon
Select dates, through November 18
Night climbs give you three hours of access to the 10 original aerial obstacle courses, plus the new zipline course, The Black Creek Flyer. You can spend the night climbing, zipping, scrambling and scampering through the trees. Stop for something to eat or sit by the fire to relax before heading up again.

Food Truck Festival Season
Laurita Winery, New Egypt
Select Saturdays and Sundays, through November 19
Each weekend will have a different theme with food trucks to match, plus have a glass or wine or two. There will be family activities, too.

Hopatcong Sunday Market & Craft Fair
