ADVENTURE AQUARIUM

Your kids will make a new magical friend during Shark Tooth Summer, as Adventure Aquarium introduces the brand new Scuba Tooth Fairy!

This month-long celebration from July 17 to August 20 will highlight the aquarium’s jaw-some collection of sharks. Back by popular demand is the Scuba Tooth Fairy, who will use their special skills to find and scoop up fallen shark teeth hidden in the sand of the Ocean Realm exhibit, which is home to an endangered great hammerhead shark.

The aquarium has a collection of sandbar, sand tiger, Pacific black tip, nurse, silky, whitespotted bamboo, brownbanded bamboo and epaulette sharks.

Adults can add to their children’s (or their own) fun by purchasing a Shark Activity Kit, complete with an activity sheet, Adventure Aquarium pencil and a shark-shaped pencil gripper. The cost is $3 donated, via online purchase, to the Adventure Aquarium ACTS conservation fund.

For those members of your family who are 12 and older and have an adventurous side, you can put on a wetsuit and snorkel within inches of sandbar and sand tiger sharks, and then swim with and feed dozens of playful stingrays. Shark & Ray Encounters are available for purchase online only.

If you still haven’t satisfied your love for sharks, get a behind-the-scenes aerial view of the Shark Real exhibit, which is home to dozens of aquatic creatures. Tours are available for $15 and must be purchased online, with a portion of proceeds benefitting the ACTS fund. For an additional $5 you can add a special commemorative photo to your experience.

For even more ways to see sharks, take a walk along the Shark Bridge, which is a rope course suspended just inches above the water. Or, walk through the Shark Tunnel, which is the longest in New Jersey! For a more hands-on experience, literally, visit the Touch-A-Shark exhibit – remember to gently glide two fingers across the backs of these exotic species.

Adventure Aquarium is located at 1 Riverside Dr., Camden and is open seven days a week. Last entry is at 3:30pm.
