You and your crew will laugh while figuring out who wreaked havoc amongst Miami's Fab Four.

As you walk into the Red Rum Theater, the lights are bright, the conversations are loud and the drinks are flowing. It doesn’t seem like the scene of a crime. But once the crowd settles down, the lights dim a bit and Dorothy comes to the mic, you know something has gone awry. And then you have to figure out: are any of our favorite Golden Girls murderers?

Without a Cue Productions presents The Golden Girls Murder Mystery: Thank You for Being a Friend. Based on the beloved TV show from the 1980s, you’ll meet character spinoffs of Dorothy, Sophia, Blanche and Rose. They are trying to figure out if Blanche’s estranged gentleman caller, Antonio, hired a hitman to kill Sophia’s sister. When Chris Spumoni arrives at their party unexpectedly, they have to figure out her role in this debacle, which reveals a subplot you’ll have to experience in person.

The entire show is filled with laughs. If you’re a true fan of the show (which still airs on TV reruns) you’ll recognize all the subtleties. Dorothy stood in her usual stance, slightly hunched with her fist on her cheek. Blanche was Blanche, making her usual innuendos (there were some preteens at the show who may or may not have understood the racier jokes, so it’s probably best if you bring older teenagers). Rose told her usual tales of St. Olaf, rambling on how only she can. And Sophia showed her feisty side, kicking up her 80-year-old legs in a fight to defend her family.

It’s your job to figure out who did it and what their motive is. The girls will share different clues with you, but you have to pay attention because everyone is a suspect. If you think you may be guilty, take your own mug shot! There’s a giant wall with sayings you can hold up representing your possible crimes – like damaging a police car or flirting with the pizza guy. You can also take selfies with the cast members as they walk around and chat or after the show for your own special keepsake.

Make sure to eat dinner before the show since there is no food served, though you can buy a brownie or a cookie as a snack. The bartender serves drink with cute names like The Sicilian Secret, Shady Pines Ma and St. Olaf Slammer. If you buy the VIP tickets, you get an awesome cup that changes color while you drink.

Toward the end of the show everyone will celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or just being a friend. Rose will even sing to you. P.J. Clarke’s is inside the building if you want to continue the fun after the show.

Tickets are available for shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through April 30 at the Red Rum Theater inside The Curtis, 601 Walnut St., Philadelphia. The shows at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City have been extended through August. The show runs about 90 minutes.

If you can’t get enough of playing detective, Without a Cue also hosts Murder on the 13th Floor and Phriends.
