
Summer weather is on, and we’ve rounded up tons of fun things to do outdoors this weekend. Here’s the lineup of events happening in NJ:
WEEKEND
HT Pride 2025: Choose Joy

The parade takes place on June 5, while Community Night is June 6, followed by a possible Drag Queen Story Hour on June 7 (TBD). The “celebration of joy” features artists, musicians, drag performers, local talent and community advocacy.

The weekend party kicks off on Thursday with Pride Happy Hour at Cooper’s Riverview, followed by Trenton Thunder Pride Night at the Trenton Thunder baseball game. On Friday, a flag raising at City Hall is followed by a casual mixer at Tracey’s Kitchen. A highlight of Saturday’s activities is the solidarity march at the State Capitol building, followed by the Trenton Pride Festival in Mill Hill Park with music, entertainment, dance, drag queens, local artists, vendors, family activities, and food and drinks.
L.E.A.D. Fest Carnival

Law enforcement officers who help students understand the dangers of drugs and violence are at center stage of this festival, which also includes fun like food, rides, games and entertainment.
Best of the Nest Birdhouse Competition & Display

Area residents created dozens of beautiful birdhouses that will be on display in the Visitors Center.
Ocean City Flower Show

Lebanese Festival
St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, Somerset
Friday – Sunday
Experience authentic Middle Eastern food, music, dance and culture. Traditional Lebanese foods such as falafel, shawarma (gyro), hummus, spinach pies, tabouleh, stuffed grape leaves and pastries will be sold. There will be live music featuring a different singer each day, plus dancing and folkloric performances. There will also be raffles, prizes, souvenirs and games of chance.

Come to the Shire of New Crossford (aka Columbus, NJ) for jousting events, stage shows, live music, firebreathing stunts, knights, bubble magicians and acrobatics.
Mercer County Come Out and Play Camp Out

The fun begins Saturday afternoon with fishing, board games, stargazing, guided night hikes, and hot dogs and s’mores by the campfire. After pitching your tent, wake up to a continental breakfast in the morning, plus an early morning bird walk and crafts before packing up.

Metuchen’s 125th Birthday Celebration

There will be a townwide celebration including activities, specials and historical moments.

As part of Boonton’s First Friday celebration, listen to live music will you dine outdoors.

This all-ages community disco dance party has live music by The Einstein Alley Disco Funk Machine. Drag artist Divinity Banks will teach you how to do the Hustle and other iconic dances. Inside the library in the Community Room, there will be space to connect with others.

Old Time Baseball Game & Wash Day
Howell Living History Farm, Hopewell Twp.
Howell Farm’s teams, the Bulls and the Hogs, will play by 19th-century Town Ball rules. Anyone can step up to the plate as a “striker” and face off against the “thrower.” You can also watch as the Flemington Neshanocks face off against the Elizabeth Resolutes in a historic baseball club match.

There will be arts and crafts, vendor shopping, live music, kids’ rides and food vendors.

Haddonfield Skirmish
Indian King Tavern Museum, Haddonfield
The Skirmish is a historical reenactment battle between the Redcoats and Continentals during the Revolutionary War. Cheer for your favorite soldiers along Kings Highway, then stop inside the museum for a tour. There will also be a yelling contest, colonial dancing, meet-and-greets with soldiers and other reenactors, and pony rides.
Juneteenth Celebration
Metuchen Town Plaza, Metuchen
Metuchen’s 5th annual Juneteenth celebration will celebrate Bob Marley’s 80th birthday with a tribute to reggae music. Join the drumline performers, step dancers and calypso band.
10th Annual Youth Fishing Challenge
Hopewell Valley YMCA, Pennington
The free fishing day for families is part of the Hooked on Fishing – Not on Drugs Youth Fishing Challenge.
Puppies and Pride Parade
Waterfront Walkway, Hoboken
Humans and pups alike are encouraged to dress in all the colors of the rainbow and march in celebration of pride. Prizes will be awarded for the Proudest Pup and Best Dressed Squad, among others.
West Orange Street Fair

Jersey City Night Market: The Cookout

The last Makerspace of the 2024-25 school year includes hands-on activities for kids ages 5 to 12. Kids will use the 3D printer, build with LEGOs, make jewelry, experiment with marble run and coding robots, and more.
PRIDE Flag Raising Ceremony
Municipal Building, Cranford
Gather on the front lawn to watch as members of the town’s administration raise the Pride flag to symbolize love, tolerance and peace.
Party in Orange and Community Appreciation Day
Cadwalader Park, Trenton
Younity (formerly Womanspace) and the City of Trenton will hold a community-wide gathering to honor lives lost to gun violence. The morning begins with an anti-gun violence march through several Trenton neighborhoods, and winds up at a party in the park with live performances, music, food, family-friendly activities, advocacy stations and resource tables.

The Longest Yarn

The Longest Yarn is a 3D wool exhibit, knitted and crocheted by hundreds of volunteers worldwide. It measures 80 meters (265 feet) and honors the 80 years since D-Day and the 80 days of battle it took for the Allies to liberate Paris. It’s coming from the UK to New Jersey for a few months.

The season-long birthday party features the daily Sesame Street Birthday Parade and meet-and-greets with characters dressed in their birthday outfits. July 30 is the “C…is For Celebrate!” fireworks show.

As part of a garden redesign inside the zoo, you can see five beautiful, giant, 3D shrubbery sculptures, in addition to planters that will change throughout the season. The topiaries include giraffes, fish, a butterfly, a peacock and a snail.

Middlesex County’s sports connections include the first-ever college football game played between Rutgers University and Princeton University and professional athletes and Olympians, Paralympians, and Special Olympians. You will see high school trophies from the 1930s to the present, NFL golden footballs for pro athletes, balls from the highest-scoring high school athletes, uniforms from the 1930s to the present, and more.
