A beloved dinosaur theme park is about to go as extinct as its prehistoric creatures.

Field Station: Dinosaurs has overtaken Overpeck County Park for 14 years with more than 30 life-sized dinos and interactive activities, but 2025 will be its final season.

Aside from fan favorites like a Dinosaur Dance Party, challenge contests, live musical shows, the Jurassic Zoo Bounce House and the T-Rex Feeding Frenzy, special activities to close out the attraction include:

  • National Dinosaur Day on June 1 – Fun activities for the whole family.
  • Meet Dino Don on July 12 – The Super Star of Science brings dino facts and myths that happen in the movies.
  • Meet Marc Rogoff on July 19 – Rogoff portrays Joseph Leidy, “The Last Man Who Knew Everything,” who was a surgeon, paleontologist, parasitologist, geologist and forensic scientist. Known as the “Father of American Paleontology”, Leidy named and described the first nearly complete dinosaur ever uncovered, the Hadrosaurus, which is the official state dinosaur of NJ.
  • Mad Science on August 2 – Kids will see demos of foggy dry ice storms, meteor drops, and a volcanic eruption.

Field Station: Dinosaurs is located in Overpeck County Park in Leonia. Park hours are 10 am to 6 pm Saturdays and Sundays, May 24 to June 22; 10 am to 6 pm Tuesdays through Sundays, June 24 to August 31; and 10 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays, September 6 to November 9 (plus November 6 and 7). The park is open on Memorial Day (May 26), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (September 1) and Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day (October 13).
