With spring in full swing, there are so many festivals, restaurant weeks and 5Ks happening in New Jersey this weekend. Take advantage of the last couple of days to take in the tulips at Holland Ridge Farm, head to the Liberty Science Center’s Butterfly House, check out Rutgers Day or take in a spring festival!

U-Pick Tulips

The tulips here have become one of New Jersey’s most photographed spots in the spring and the farm opened its u-pick tulips season this week. Beyond the whopping 8 million colorful tulips to take in, there are plenty of other things to keep you and your crew entertained during a visit including 20+ photo props, as many as 30 food trucks, farm animals, a feeding zoo, pony rides, a tractor-pulled hayride, Dutch souvenirs, a bakery and a tulip planting museum. This is definitely the last weekend of the season, so don’t miss an opportunity to see the fields in person.

Red Bank Comedy Festival

The inaugural festival will showcase the comedy of over 20 comedians performing at four different venues across the downtown: the Basie Center Cinemas, the Dublin House, the Scarlet Reserve Room and Kings of the Craft. Headliners are Bonnie McFarlane, Shuli Egar and Aaron Berg. The festival will also feature live podcasts and afterparties, giving attendees a chance to mix and mingle with the performers.

City Nature Challenge is a four-day bioblitz where cities around the world compete to see who can record the most wildlife. Bring your kids or date on board a small, intimate Circle Line vessel, where you’ll sail along the East River for an hour during sunset, passing by NYC landmarks such as the Statute of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. There will be a photo stop at Lady Liberty.

Identity & Restraint: Art of the Dog Collar

This unique exhibit presents an array of dog collars from the National Sporting Library & Museum. Fine art from the AKC Museum of the Dog and American Kennel Club Collections will help develop an understanding of the collar as both art and object and how its design changed in relation to different dog breeds and their uses.
