When you live in New Jersey it can be easy to forget that our home state has all the makings of a great vacay spot: the beaches of the Jersey Shore, the mountains of High Point State Park, farms and wineries throughout the state, authentic eats and so much more.
So it’s not surprising that Daily Passport named America’s 10 Most-Visited States, and New Jersey landed in the top 10. Though we are sandwiched between NYC and Philadelphia, our home state (which landed at #9) has an identity of its own.
There are so many gorgeous getaways in NJ, from Crystal Springs Resort and Mountain Creek Resort (skiing and ziplining) in Sussex County to Monmouth Park Racetrack in Monmouth County to the Wildwoods and Atlantic City down the Shore.
We have some of the best festivals year-round, plenty of wineries and breweries, Revolutionary War towns like Freehold, Princeton and Morristown; and areas that scream Hallmark movie, like Lambertville and Cape May.
Hikers and boaters love the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and the Pine Barrens (along with legends of the Jersey Devil).
Our college towns are fun, too, (especially when our Scarlet Knights are winning).
Everyone knows we have the best pizza and ice cream. New Jersey also has top tier shopping, from American Dream to Westfield Garden State Plaza to all the outlet malls you know and love.
Our state’s rich history is proudly on display at the New Jersey Hall of Fame Entertainment & Learning Center inside American Dream in East Rutherford and its associated exhibits at the rest stops along the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike.
These are America’s 10 Most-Visited States for 2024:
- New York
- Texas
- California
- Ohio
- Pennsylvania
- Georgia
- Tennessee
- Florida
- New Jersey
- Illinois
