If you’re looking for some heart-racing outdoor fun, look no further than Mountain Creek Resort. Its amazing Bike Park is now open, and the Zip Tours start May 25.
Mountain Creek Bike Park’s trails are designed to challenge everyone from beginners to World Cup downhill racers. If you’re not an expert mountain biker, they’ll teach you the skills you need to tear up 52 trails and have the most fun possible on two wheels. There is plenty of bike terrain for beginners, but there’s also a 1,040-foot vertical drop, which you start by taking a gondola to the top before speeding downhill for more advanced riders.
If you need a brush-up or some lessons, Mountain Creek Bike Park also offers bike rentals and a full-service bike school for those looking to give downhill mountain biking a try or to level up their skills. You can learn the biking basics from trained staff members, which includes two-hour lift access. In addition, regularly scheduled kids and women-focused skills camps will be offered throughout the season.
Full-day tickets can be purchased online for $64.99 which includes all-day trail and gondola access. Twilight Tickets are available for $44.99, with access starting at 3 pm.
In addition to the Bike Park, Mountain Creek Resort offers more family fun including Zip Tours. If heights are not your nemesis, try gliding along a zipline ranging from 200 feet to 1,500 feet in length. You can ride around the course or take a guided tour. The lines are open Thursdays through Sundays, and the cost is $49.99. It’s a fun family activity for groups of any size and age, as long as you are between 60 and 270 pounds and at least 48” tall.
Another adrenaline-pumper is the Alpine Mountain Coaster. Cruise down the mountain looking at the views as you twist and turn. Access is part of your Waterpark Season Passes, Bike Park Season Passes and Waterpark Day tickets.
Another fun feature is the TreEscape ropes course. You’ll walk through a series of wooden platforms that are built into the trees and combine rope walks, obstacles, climbing features and a zip line. The Black Creek Flyer soars over the entire TreEscape area. You can also Night Climb, going through the park after dark on select Saturdays.

If you want a more relaxing, scenic excursion, travel along Mountain Creek Resort’s Cabriolet to the top of Vernon Peak, where you’ll get a gorgeous view of the mountaintops of Sussex County via Sky Rides. There is a $10 fee for the roundtrip ride.
Come June 22, cool off from the summer heat at Mountain Creek’s Waterpark, where you can splash and slide down water slides like the Zero-G, the world’s tallest double looping thrill slide, and the Colorado River, featuring 1,600 feet of cascading waterfalls, wild rapids and tunnels. The waterpark is also home to a lazy river, sprayground and a massive wave pool.
If you want to extend your stay so you can pack in all the activities, consider booking a room at The Appalachian, the resort’s condo-style hotel that has a variety of dining options and amenities.
Mountain Creek Resort is located at 200 Rte. 94 in Vernon Twp. Known for its winter ski and slope season, it is located near the Minerals Hotel of the Crystal Springs complex.
