Drumroll, please! The number one town in South Jersey, and overall best town in Camden County, is Haddonfield, according to South Jersey Magazine. Based on property values and taxes, crime incidents and high school performance numbers, Haddonfield has just claimed the magazine’s top spot.
We’re not surprised Haddonfield is Camden County’s winner, considering the town won Camden County in New Jersey Family’s Best Towns for Families in 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2015. New Jersey Family’s methodology combined data on average home sale prices, median household income, crime, mean travel time to work, high school data, tax rates, diversity and more. The town also ranked number six on our 2019 list of the top ten small towns in NJ and number 17 on our overall list of the best towns for families in NJ.
Haddonfield’s historic spots include Kings Highway, a wagon trail that was initially named after British monarchs that ruled the area, Gibbs Tavern, an 18th-century building that’s now home to Kings Road Craft Brewery, Haddonfield Public Library, one of the oldest in NJ, and the Hadrosaurus Foulkii Leidy Site, where the first relatively complete set of dinosaur bones were discovered back in 1838.
The town has also been recognized by USA Today, which named it one of the top three best historic small towns in the nation in 2018.
