For the first time in North America, welcome Valais Blacknose breeders, their sheep, qualified certified judges, and visitors from around the world. Another special attraction is a booth set up by Baabuk, a B Corp Certified Swiss footwear brand, and one of the only manufacturers that uses sheep’s wool.

The beach will be a seafood lover’s paradise. Start by checking out more than two dozen vendors selling everything from clams to calamari, oysters to ahi, and even alligator. Sample Jersey-made craft beers, watch a cooking demo, check out the vendors or just walk along the beach. There will also be children’s activities and art, live sand sculpting, live music performances, complimentary seminars, a crab cake eating competition and a chowder cookoff.

Guest speakers will talk about plant-based nutrition, environmental health and animal advocacy, and will discuss how our diets not only affect our health but also the health of the planet. There will be four performance spaces so that more than 30 bands can perform, plus arts, and activities, food and entertainment. The streets will be blocked off for folk/rhythm/blues/world music, plus Little Explorers, a games and vendor expo geared towards young families sponsored by Explore Millburn. The Taylor Park Rose Garden will have low-sensory acoustic music. There will also be children’s entertainment as well as a beer garden, food and shopping.

Parsippany Food Truck & Music Fest
Veterans Memorial Park, Parsippany
Bring your lawn chair and your appetite because there will be 15 food vendors in the park so you can say goodbye to summer while raising money for The Kiwanis of Greater Parsippany. In addition to food, and live music from Naughty Humphrey and Twisted Charm, you can shop from local craft vendors, shoot airsoft rifles, jump on a bungee trampoline, get a henna tattoo, play with sand art, and more. For those 21 and over, enjoy an ice-cold beer, wine, or hard seltzer from the bar. This is a pet-friendly event.

Open Cockpit Days
New Jersey Aviation Hall of Fame, Teterboro
You’ll have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a very rare Lockheed Bushmaster plane and a U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter. Sit inside a M*A*S*H Bell 47 helicopter made famous during the Korean War. See the cabin and cockpit of the world’s only surviving Martin 202A Airliner. Also popular with young people is to sit inside the official airport rescue firefighter truck. Also on display are the Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter and the OV-1A Mohawk Observation/Attack Aircraft.

Linwood Fields Festivals

This year is the first time you will be able to pick your own veggies in addition to the U-cut flower field. During the festival days, there will be a wine tasting, food trucks, craft vendors, a bounce house, a petting zoo, pet adoptions, a corn maze, a hayride and pumpkin picking (when available).

PBA Corn Hole Tournament & Craft Beer Tasting
Seastreak Ferry Terminal/Sand Box, Highlands
There is a 4-game Round Robin, into a double elimination, (guaranteed six games) in support of the local PBA. There will be food trucks and beer after. You can purchase tickets for the Craft Beer Tasting as well, and attend both events or just one.

Back to School
Howell Living History Farm, Hopewell Twp.
Kids 5 and up will be treated to a unique history lesson, as they attend class in a one-room school as Pleasant Valley children once did. They will do before- and after-school farm chores, play games during recess, and learn math, English and social studies. You’ll also get to meet Larry Kidder, the author of an award-winning book about the school itself. Games and recess will follow.

Robert J. Miller Oysterfest

This is a community health event for melanoma awareness featuring live outdoor music and food. New for Oysterfest 2023 is Burger Bash, a burger-tasting competition hosted by local restaurants featuring their best burgers. Live music from the band Garden State Groove and DJ sounds from Nix in the Mix will be featured. Additional highlights for the adults-only event include an open bar, bagpipers, dining with local eateries and the popular oysters and raw bar.

NJ Taco Festival

Choose the best tacos from 40 different trucks. Entertainment includes live bands, including Metalachi, a fusion of heavy metal and mariachi music. There will also be Lucha Libre wrestling, Chihuahua Pageant, eating contests, and a margarita and beer bar.

The Kid’s Traveling Shindig is dedicated to children with kiddie bounce rides, slides, and interactive blow-ups, face painters, sand art and kids’ games. At dusk, there will be a fireworks display to cap off the celebration.

There will be giant inflatable kites visible for miles; vertical wind feathers and ground displays; kids and adults Running of the Bols competition; super-sized giant bubbles, kite sales and a separate public flying field for all.

Family Wildlife Treasure Hunt

Take the afternoon to search for all kinds of plants and animals: fish in the river, insects in the field and fungi in the forest. You will collect pond water to search for tiny wildlife under the microscope. Youngsters will have a nature bingo sheet, and older children will have a “Tree of Life” sheet to record the plants and animals they find.

One of the highly anticipated parts of the day is the Rubber Duck Race, where numbered plastic duck toys will travel along a route in the lake to see who the first-, second- and third-place winners are.

During the weekend of September 16 and 17, Peddler’s Village will host a Scarecrow Festival that will include scarecrow workshops, live music, a juggling show, pumpkin painting, axe throwing, sand art, and outdoor food and drinks.

Liu Shiming Life Gives Beauty Form

The exhibition will feature more than 80 sculptures made over the Chinese artist’s 60-year career, including 27 works that are being exhibited for the first time in the United States. The exhibition has an emphasis on popular fairy tales, family life and animals, with a Family Guide created by Mason Gross Galleries to help spark conversations around the pieces so that everyone can attend. There is also an interactive clay room set up inside the galleries where guests can try their hand at sculpting in Shiming’s style.

The exhibition features the iconic moments, characters, settings and beasts seen in the films and stories of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and also includes the costumes, props and imagery from the Broadway production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. You can choose a Patronus, cast a spell, test their Quidditch skills, and brew potions while you’re there.

Ode to New Jersey Opening Reception

Celebrate New Jersey, known as The Garden State, the Diner Capital of the World and the Crossroads of the American Revolution. Our state is famous for the Jersey tomato, cranberry bogs and growing blueberries (the state’s official fruit). An opening night reception is planned for September 8.

Live music will be from Your Mom’s Hot and new this year will be live jazz music from Hunter Hays – plus DJ Allstar Spotlight.

The bike park at Mountain Creek has 52 downhill trails that challenge everyone from first-time bikers to downhill professional racers. Zip tours feature a series of ziplines ranging from 200 feet to 1,500 feet in length.

Grow Little Gardner

Certified Master Gardener and local mom Mathilde Burlion will teach a weekly youth gardening class in Herrontown Woods. In these sessions, kids ages 6-12 will learn and grow by exploring the woods and interacting with nature.

This German heritage festival is a new fall tradition filled with authentic fare and a large selection of seasonal craft lagers and beers from around the world, including the Gutentag One Man Band.

Duke Farms Market

The best farms and artisan vendors from the Raritan Watershed region will offer items for all your grocery needs.

T-Rex Takeover
Field Station: Dinosaurs, Leonia

The park will be home to more than 30 larger-than-life-sized dinosaurs and includes the Jurassic Jump attraction, activities like dino trivia or feeding a T-Rex, time to speak with actual paleontologists and a scavenger hunt.

Aerial Adventure Park Night Climb
Great Gorge Golf Club, Vernon
Select dates, through November 18
Night climbs give you three hours of access to the 10 original aerial obstacle courses, plus the new zipline course, The Black Creek Flyer. You can spend the night climbing, zipping, scrambling and scampering through the trees. Stop for something to eat or sit by the fire to relax before heading up again.

Food Truck Festival Season

Each weekend will have a different theme with food trucks to match, plus have a glass of wine or two. There will be family activities, too.

Hopatcong Sunday Market & Craft Fair

Sundays, through November 26
Each week, bring the kids and shop from a variety of food, produce and craft vendors.

The 22nd commemoration of the events of September 11, 2001, will take place on Monday. Plan to visit a memorial or ceremony to honor the lives lost on that fateful day.

And Hispanic Heritage Month events are planned for September and October.
