Known as “The Festival Only Jersey Could Handle,” the North to Shore Festival is gearing up for another statewide lineup of concerts, art exhibits, comedy shows, film screenings and more.
New Jersey’s largest summer music and arts celebration returns for the fourth year, with NJPAC producing a slate of events from June 13 to 28.
Top names performing in Newark include Janelle Monáe, The Black Crowes, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Joe Bonamassa, Iliza Shlesinger, and Jesse & Joy.
Yellowcard, Kurt Vile, Black Uhuru, David Cross, The Bouncing Souls, Happy Mondays are already on the lineup for Asbury Park.
Additional performances will be presented in Freehold by Sublime, The Head and The Heart, and Dark Star Orchestra.
Venues include Prudential Arena, NJPAC’s Prudential Hall, Victoria Theater and Chambers Plaza in Newark; the Stone Pony Summer Stage and Wonder Bar in Asbury Park; and the new ParkStage at East Freehold Park Showgrounds in Freehold. Concerts, parties and workshops will be planned in Atlantic City through July.
Past events include The Garden State Live! monthly concert series at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City; and the free AC Jamming! concert and open mic series at Gin Rickey’s Live Music Bar at the Tropicana Casino Hotel.
The free Dodge Poetry series will offer writing workshops for Atlantic City teens at Stockton University’s Noyes Arts Garage once a month on Monday afternoons. Young people can showcase their words and ideas in verse, then speak them aloud during an open mic. A Youth Poetry Showcase will be held on June 14 to listen to the young writers share their work.
And the festival will once again focus social outreach efforts on fighting food insecurity through the Growing Healthy Pantries initiative, a partnership between Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and numerous Garden State food distribution centers, including the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, FoodBank of South Jersey, Fulfill, Mercer Street Friends, Norwescap and Feeding America.
