There’s an out-of-this-world experience in Philadelphia that will have your kids over the moon.

Otherworld is a large-scale immersive art and entertainment experience with 55 differently decorated rooms that create a surreal sci-fi experience that makes you feel like you’re on a different planet.

As you walk around at your own pace, the key is to let your senses guide you. Each room has vibrant colors and interactive aspects that were produced by locally- and nationally-recognized artists. You follow tunnels and passageways into a world of imagination. Music fans will like the live music space that adds a concert-like feeling along the way.

There’s no time limit, but it will probably take an hour or two to explore since there is 40,000 square feet of possibilities; and each time you visit, the experience will be different.

Before Otherworld came to Philadelphia, it started in Columbus, Ohio. I recently visited the Columbus location and it certainly gave the feeling that you’re in another world. The neon lights lit up everything around me, which sometimes felt overwhelming – but it was fun to take photos everywhere.

While this is great for a friends outing or date night, kids are able to let their imaginations roam free as they explore the mixed-reality playgrounds.

Otherworld is located at 2500 Grant Ave. No. 1 in Philadelphia. The attraction is closed on Tuesdays, and you need to book your time slot in advance. Tickets start at $29.99 for kids and $34.99 for adults; kids under age 3 are free. You can buy a Family Pack for two adults and two kids; or consider an Annual Pass that grants unlimited access for a full year.
