Gerber Recalls Baby Formula Due to Possible Contamination

Check to see if your baby's formula is on the list.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration, Perrigo Co. has issued a voluntary recall of certain lots of Gerber Good Start SoothePro Powdered Infant Formula. The company said the recall stemmed from possible bacteria contamination, though there have been no reported illnesses from the bacteria.

The company said the bacteria (Cronobacter sakazakii) was potentially present at its Wisconsin manufacturing facility between January 2 and 18.

“Cronobacter sakazakii is a bacteria commonly found in the environment,” says the FDA. “In most people it causes no symptoms but in some, particularly premature infants, infants under 2 months of age or infants with weakened immune systems fever, poor feeding, excessive crying or low energy as well as other serious symptoms can occur.”

So far, no baby formula products that were distributed have tested positive for the bacteria.

The products affected by the recall would have been purchased after March 5, 2023. Customers can check the bottom of the product for lot numbers and use by dates. If you have the following products, discontinue use and dispose of them:
