This weekend is packed with fun to do with the kids this weekend! From strawberry festivals, street fairs and soccer celebrations to Pride Month and Juneteenth events happening across the state, there are lots of ways to make the most of the first weekend in June.

A Night for Gaza – Live Concert and Art Market

Thursday
Proceeds will benefit Middle East Children’s Alliance to support kids in Gaza. There will be live music by Carsie Blanton and Shake Your Peace!, an art market, and snacks for sale.

The parade takes place on June 4, while Pride + Progress Community Night is June 5, followed by a possible Drag Queen Story Hour on June 6 (TBD).

Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank cardholders can receive free general admission to various cultural attractions on the first full weekend of each month.

Turkish Fest

This two-day cultural festival celebrates all things Turkish: food, art, community, music, traditional dances, performing arts, a kids’ train ride, playground, cultural dialog booths, and traditional crafts.

There will be lots of fresh berries, live music, wagon rides, visits with the animals, time to play on the tractors and playhouses, pony rides, games like the duck race and bean bag toss, and a farm-wide scavenger hunt. NJ Bubble Parties and Snakes ‘n Scales will put on shows. Order strawberry treats like ice cream, slushies and strawberry rhubarb pie. The Wine Orchard will serve Terhune’s award-winning wines.

Game Night at The Showroom
The Showroom Cinema, Asbury Park
The family-friendly game night is hosted by Arts High Performing Arts Teacher Trish Tyler. You can play Charades and Pictionary, or just watch. Each person gets a small drink and a popcorn.

Teen Arts
Konscious Community Center, Asbury Park
These are free art pop-ups for middle and high school students that have a different theme each month. Each session starts with breathwork and a grounding exercise and moves on to visual arts, literary arts and performance-based activities.

Westfield Street Fair & Craft Show
Downtown Westfield
There will be arts and crafts, shopping, live music, kids’ games, food vendors and family-friendly fun.

Old Time Baseball Game & Wash Day
Howell Living History Farm, Hopewell Twp.
Watch the Flemington Neshanocks face off against the Elizabeth Resolutes in a historic baseball club match, and after join Howell Farm’s own Hogs and Bulls for a public game on the farmhouse lawn.

Stewie the Duck Family Fun Day

The kid-friendly activities, food and farm fresh produce benefit the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation.

A historical reenactor dressed as General George Washington will be part of a hop-on, hop-off shuttle that journeys around Trenton’s Mill Hill neighborhoods and landmarks.

CLEAN OCEAN ACTION / Rally for the Rivers Eco-Fest

Rally for the Rivers Eco-Fest
Victory Park, Rumson
Clean Ocean Action will celebrate the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers during a morning of free, hands-on eco-activities and crafts – like seining, environmental demos, face painting and music. Pick up an Eco-Fest passport card, and you can earn stamps by visiting different booths at the event.

USA 250th / Hopewell 135th
Hopewell Borough Train Station, Hopewell
Celebrate the 250th signing of the Declaration of Independence and the anniversary of the incorporation of Hopewell Borough. The town crier will kick off the reading of the Declaration. There will be historical presentations, pioneer games and crafts, period re-enactors and a musket firing. Join a walking tour to John Hart’s monument and the Old Baptist Meeting House. Brick Farm Tavern will host a buffet pig roast dinner, after which Castle Lane will perform.

“Where Eagles Dare” will be the free movie shown in honor of the anniversary of the infamous storming of Normandy, France, during World War II.

One of the town’s biggest events of the year packs the streets with local crafters, food stands, street performers, a foam party, a beer and wine garden and a bungee trampoline. FIFA NYNJ is bringing its Skyline to Shoreline Road Tour™ to this year’s street fair, so celebrate all things soccer with interactive games, giveaways and music. Kids will be greeted by their favorite costumed characters, including a live puppet T-Rex, Spider-Man, Disney Princesses, Minions and more. You’ll also get free entrance to the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.

Quaker Bridge Mall’s 50th Anniversary

A DJ, music and dance performances, a fashion show, face painting, activities, free cupcakes and giveaways will be set up in the QB Court.

Each sculpture will be dedicated to a region of the U.S., and collages on each will show sites like the Statue of Liberty, Kennedy Space Center, Mount Rushmore, Route 66, and the Golden Gate Bridge, among others, as well as animals, architecture and American history scenes.

The traveling exhibit finds a new home inside historic Hangar #1, showing the role AC played in World War II: hotels were converted into military barracks, ballrooms into drill halls, and Boardwalk Hall into a training facility.
