Reeves-Reed Arboretum is not only a stunning 13-acre property filled with beautiful flowers and trees, but it’s also been a place that has advocated for the environment for 50 years.
To celebrate its golden anniversary, there will be special events held all year in Summit. Bring the kids to a guided nature walk or botanical workshop, or listen to live music and see beautiful art exhibitions.
The annual festivals continue, including Daffodil Day on April 14, Celebrate Fall on October 20 and the Festival of Trees on December 8.
Get your tickets for the Anniversary Summit Garden Tour and Tea on May 30, the Sounds of a Summer Night Concert Series, the annual fundraising gala ART in the Garden on June 8 and the Notable Garden Speaker Series.
There is a historical exhibit you can visit every day (except Mondays), and a then special anniversary exhibit inside the Wisner House Galley will be unveiled in the fall, including photos, documents and anecdotes from the last five decades.
Don’t make this a one-time visit; adults, schools and local organization members are invited to volunteer year-round. And come back again after six acres of natural woodlands and one mile of hiking trails are restored later this year.
Watch out for a special announcement in a few months that will spill the tea on a new project that will enhance sustainability, conservation efforts and accessibility at the arboretum. Reeves-Reed Arboretum is located at 165 Hobart Ave. in Summit and is open 365 days a year. The history exhibit is open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Sunday.
