There’s a spectacular new sight lighting up the Hoboken waterfront, and it’s not the NYC skyline.
Pier A Park and Monroe Center Plaza are now home to Electric Dandelions, a series of sculptures made from steel and LED lighting that will light up the sky, from sunset to sunrise, through June 6. They are 28 feet tall and look like dandelions in full bloom.
The Hoboken Business Alliance partnered with artist Abram Santa Cruz and the Los Angeles-based art collective Liquid PXL for this beautiful display in Mile Square City that is meant to attract visitors to the business district.
If you’re a music fest fan, you may recognize the display from Burning Man in 2016, as well as Adelaide in Australia, Firefly Music Festival in Delaware and the River of Light winter festival in Liverpool. They’ve also been set up in Jerusalem, Toronto, Chicago and Manhattan, but this is the first time you can see them in New Jersey.
Electric Dandelions will be lit up from 9 am to 10 pm daily, through June 6, at Pier A and Monroe Center Plaza in Hoboken. The area includes the waterfront and Sinatra Drive and the Ninth Street/Congress Street Light Rail Station.
