New Jersey has some of the most charming small towns in the country, and two of the three that were named in the USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice 2024 poll for Best Small Towns in the Northeast made the final list.
Lambertville placed No. 3 among the top 10 towns, according to readers’ votes. Lambertville sits along the Delaware River and is short walk over a scenic bridge to New Hope, PA. Before you cross the NJ border, visit the restaurants, shops, boutiques and playground space on the Jersey side. Lambertville Station Restaurant & Inn has stunning views of the waterfront, whether you dine or stay for the weekend. The ice cream at Owowcow is worth the trip alone.
There is no shortage of natural or historical sites in Morristown, which came in at No. 8. Known for its Revolutionary War-time roots, you can visit the Morris Museum, Historic Speedwell and Maccullouch Hall Historical Museum. Get outside at Frelinghuysen Arboretum or Morristown National Historic Park. The downtown area has plenty of stores and restaurants, too.
Cape May was also part of the contest.
