Even though exercise goals top the list of New Year’s resolutions (and two-thirds of people gave up on those resolutions in February) fitness buffs in our home state seem to still be on track with their healthy living goals.

New research shows that New Jersey residents are obsessed with fitness. The study by price tracking site Pricelisto analyzed average monthly search volume data for multiple phrases, terms and queries related to fitness over the last 12 months in order to deduce which states are the most interested in getting fit.

New Jersey had a search volume of 902 searches per 100,000 people over the last year, placing it at No. 4 on the list. We are one of seven states along the east coast that topped the list.

Most Fitness-Obsessed States:
1. Massachusetts
2. Colorado
3. New York
4. New Jersey
5. Rhode Island
6. Washington State
7. Florida
8. North Carolina
9. California
10. Delaware

The most searched term out of each state was “Planet Fitness,” indicating that a large percentage of the people who searched for fitness-related terms were interested in the country’s largest gym chain. The business had a total of more than 14.2 million searches per month on average across the 50 states. Some of the other search terms analyzed include “gyms near me,” “how to join a gym” and “how to make a home gym.”

If you feel like you have no time to workout, consider making a group fitness class part of your routine, investigate home workouts through apps or just grab your mom friends and walk around the park during lunchtime.
