There are a lot factors to consider when deciding where to live and raise a family. Cost of living, job opportunities, quality of education and safety are important, in addition to hot spots nearby, recreational opportunities and weather. WalletHub compared the 50 states based on 51 key indicators of livability, ranging from housing costs and income growth to the education rate and quality of hospitals.
Massachusetts is No. 1 on the list, with an overall ranking of 61.67 points. New Jersey is just a tad behind at No. 2, with 61.48 points. And we’ve made the No. 2 spot for the second year in a row, after placing in the top spot in 2021.
We are a bit biased, but we love Jersey for its great schools, beautiful parks, a great shoreline with beaches and boardwalks, amazing restaurants with rooftop bars, nature preserves, and tons of cool places to visit. We have history, we have museums, we have theme parks, we have the greatest downtowns. We have incredible farms with flower fields and pick-your-own produce, plus some great animals that live in the wild.
It’s safe to say we agree with the survey, and hope NJ levels up to No. 1 again next year!
