Safety and schools always top the list for parents when choosing a town to raise their kids. Safewise recently analyzed data from 2022 and released its top 100 cities in the country that are safest in terms of violent and property crime rates. Three New Jersey towns made the top 10 and NJ had the highest number of safe cities on the overall list, with 31 in total.

Sparta Twp., located in Sussex County, placed No. 7 on the Safewise list. Last year, it placed 8th. Residents spend their time at picturesque Lake Mohawk, Tomahawk Lake Water Park, Sparta Glen or Sparta Books.

Hasbrouck Heights is part of Bergen County and ranked 8th on the list. This is the first time it’s been included. Along the Boulevard you can spend the day shopping or eating at restaurants. Close by are the Meadowlands and American Dream.

Berkeley Heights in Union County followed behind at No. 9, also new to the list. Attractions include the Deserted Village of Feltville-Glenside Park, Littell-Lord Farmhouse Museum and Trap Rock Restaurant & Brewery.

The analysis was based on FBI crime data from 2022. It looked into factors such as murder, motor vehicle theft and burglaries.

And it seems that America’s safest cities are even safer than before. Last year, there was a stagnant violent crime rate but rising property crime among the 100 safest cities that made the Safewise list. Yet for 2022, both violent and property crime rates fell among these towns year over year.

Here are the 10 Safest Cities in America for 2022:
1. Lewisboro Town, NY
2. Wayland, MA
3. Rye, NY
4. Broadview Heights, OH
5. Franklin, MA
6. Norfolk, MA
7. Sparta Township, NJ
8. Hasbrouck Heights, NJ
9. Berkeley Heights Township, NJ
10. Holden, MA
