A touch of Africa is coming to New Jersey, but it won’t be as rugged as you think. With the grand opening of the Savannah Sunset Resort and Spa at Six Flags Great Adventure Resort, you can book a night of glamping inside the Six Flags Wild Safari.
Instead of braving the wild outdoors, you’ll experience luxury camping, where you and up to five other people can sleep in one of 20 glamping suites. Glamping takes the best parts of the outdoors minus the cold, the bugs and the fear. We’re talking comfort and style with lots of amenities – a private space to sleep with your own bathroom, pretty decor and VIP dining. For two nights you can relax inside your suite, see animals up-close, feed giraffes and spend time at the main theme park or Hurricane Harbor, which will open Splash Island this summer.
You can also book a treatment at the Savannah Sunset Spa, where the focus is relaxation and wellness.
You’ll get to sleep inside the 350-acre safari that’s home to more than 1,200 animals. Great Adventure previously held a Safari Overnight Camping trip where you’d pitch a tent within Camp Adventure and were treated to a movie night, s’mores, activities, animal meet-and-greets and giraffe feeding time. This new offering takes it to a new luxurious level.
Choose your adventure for the weekend. Do you want to relax with a friend, plan a family stay or book a romantic getaway? Reservations are open for the glamping season, which goes from June 14 to September 2, with select dates up until December 1. You can also rent event space at the resort for weddings, corporate retreats or parties.
For more safari fun, book a Safari Off Road Adventure, which returns this year after a hiatus; this requires no overnight stay, but instead, you board a truck driven by a guide to travel through the safari with twists and turns you can’t get from your own car.
The new resort and glamping experience was announced last year as part of this year’s 50th anniversary celebration. Six Flags Great Adventure Resort will also debut its 15th roller coaster this summer. THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity, the first super boomerang coaster in North America.
Six Flags Great Adventure opens for the season on March 16 with limited availability through May.
