Little known fact: August 15 is National Back To School Prep Day, which means it’s getting to be that time. Here are a few events that include deals and freebies ahead of the new school year.

Kids eat free Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as part of their Back to School Special. Open to kids 12 and younger who order off the Children’s Menu. Available for dine-in only.

Stuff the Bus
Woodbridge: donate through August 17; the bus arrives August 18
Jersey City: donate from August 19-25; the bus arrives August 25
Butler: donate from August 28 to September 3; the bus arrives September 1
Manahawkin: donate from August 30 to September 1; the bus arrives August 30
Each year, participating Doherty-owned Applebee’s locations park a school bus outside their restaurants and collect as many school supplies and cash donations as possible.

Back to School Bash
Jersey Shore Premium Outlets, Tinton Falls
The kids will be treated to face painting, glitter hair, food and demos. There will be Moms of Business pop-up shops throughout the outlets, in all the walkways and in the center area near the fireplace and food court. There will be free swag for kids, too.
August 19-23
Bubbakoo’s Burritos
Each day during the promotional period, there are prize giveaways including a Lenovo Ideapad Touchscreen Laptop, Apple iPad, Beats Studio Pro Headphones. Enter on Instagram and Facebook by tagging two friends in the comments. Winners will be announced on August 26.

Kids Night Out: Before School Begins
ACACNJ, Denville
There will be pizza, art, karaoke, slime, a movie, a game room, jewelry making, dancing and more.

Back to School Bash
Sesame Place Philadelphia, Langhorne, PA

Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway
McDonald’s, Hackensack
The McDonald’s restaurant located at 343 River St. and 193 Essex St. will be hosting a back-to-school backpack giveaway for kids in the Hackensack community.
