Fourth of July Celebration & Parade
The Village of Ridgefield Park
The Ridgefield Park July 4th parade was founded in 1894, and is the longest consecutive running 4th of July parade in New Jersey, and one of the oldest parades in the United States. The day begins with a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a flag-raising ceremony, followed by the Baby & Youth Parade and the Main Civic Parade, and then a nighttime concert and fireworks display with the Rutherford Community Band.

One of the biggest Fourth of July celebrations in NJ takes place along the beach, complete with music, activities, food trucks, live bands, and fireworks at dusk.

Highlights of the weekend include a Democracy Day picnic, walking tours, museum tours, history chats, and the 249th annual proclamation of the Declaration of Independence on July 8 at 12 pm on Warren Street – which is at the same location and time as the first reading of the Declaration in Trenton in 1776. Known as the world’s largest beach Frisbee tournament, the 33rd annual event will bring in more than 400 teams from all over the world. It’s a 4-v-4 co-ed team competition for players of all skill levels, ages 18 and over. There will be an additional high school division on Sunday only. There’s a cost to play, but it’s free to watch from the sidelines.

Wildwoods Loves Waddlers Baby Waddle Contest
In front of Wildwoods Convention Center, Wildwood
Infants and toddlers 24 months and younger will show off their speed-crawling skills. Each kid will be placed in the center of a colorful 45-foot-diameter circle and encouraged by their parents to crawl or waddle to the edge. The first in each category to wind up outside of the circle will be declared the winner and will receive a family of four pack to Morey’s Amusement Piers and Water Parks.

Wildwoods Convention Center, along the Boardwalk, to Cedar Avenue, Wildwood
Kids 12 and under will parade 10 blocks, with judges handing out awards near Morey’s Piers: Cutest Baby Boy (under 12 months, undecorated stroller), Cutest Baby Girl (under 12 months, undecorated stroller), Individual Best Dressed, Best Themed Group, Small Float (decorated wagon or stroller), and Large Float.

Downtown Thursdays David Cassidy Historical Marker ’70s Dance Party
Franklin Street, West Orange (in front of Washington Elementary School)
As part of a two-day celebration of ‘Partridge Family’ teen idol David Cassidy, you’re invited to dress in your retro best and go back in time for a block party that celebrates all things ’70s. There will be dancing in the streets, a beer and wine garden, food trucks, vendors, and more in honor of David Cassidy. Photographer Henry Diltz will hold a meet-and-greet, while pop culture historian Johnny Ray Miller will autograph his books.
