Bumper Cars on Ice Are Back at Bryant Park

The Winter Village is still open for ice skating and igloo rentals

If you’ve never bundled up the kids for a wintry day in NYC, now’s the time to do it. The super popular Bumper Cars on Ice are back at the ice rink at Bryant Park through the end of February.

The kids can spin, slide, bump and drive across the rink in brightly colored tube-like bumper cars. Cars are operated by two joysticks the kids will have no problem maneuvering. Riders must be at least 7 years old and 42 inches tall.

The ride itself lasts 10 minutes, but you’ll have to choose a 45-minute timeslot when buying your ticket. Tickets must be purchased in advance online and start at $22.88 per person. Some dates are already selling out, especially on weekends.

After your ride, stick around to explore the Bank of America Winter Village. Though the holiday shops are closed for the season, you can still glide along the only free ice skating rink in Manhattan. Don’t worry if you’re not a pro; a variety of private and group lessons are available.

You can choose to upgrade your experience with a VIP skate package, which includes an extended skate session (about 80 minutes), a skate concierge, skate rentals, access to the Polar Lounge, bag check and snacks. If you’re not skating, you still need a ticket to get into the Polar Lounge.

Grab a bite at the pop-up bar and food hall, The Lodge, which has special events on select nights, like Vinyl Nights, winter dances, mixtape bingo, a Super Bowl viewing party – and even speed dating, for you single moms.

Other places to eat include The Chalet open-air snack bar, Café ‘cito, Canoe Bar, Rinkside by Stout NYC, S’mores N’more, Stout Sausage Co., and SweetTooth.

If you want a more exclusive experience, rent one of their private, heated igloos, which turn “rosy” around Valentine’s Day. You can sip afternoon tea or a variety of themed cocktails.

Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park is located at 41st Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. The village is open through February 28.
