We were bummed to learn that the New Jersey Festival of Ballooning wasn’t happening this summer, but now we’re pumped for a hot air balloon festival coming to Central Jersey this weekend.
The Balloon Glow & Laser Show will fill the fairgrounds in East Brunswick with hot air balloons, a Kids Zone, games, rides, a train, bounce houses, live music, craft and retail booths, food vendors with festival-style food.
Sign up for a hot air balloon ride depending on the weather; there will be tethered rides for $35 per person.
Stay through the night for the grand finale, which takes place both nights after dusk. The laser show lights up all the balloons at once while the crowds yell out a countdown. The show has music and coordinated burns by Hot Air Balloons & Lasers.
Bring blankets, chairs and umbrellas so you can set up the perfect viewing spot. Coolers are not allowed.
Keep an ear out for weather updates, since balloon inflation is only possible if winds are low enough to be safe.
The Balloon Glow & Laser Show will take place from 5-10 pm September 13 and 14 at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds, 655 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick. Tickets start at $20 for adults and $10 for kids (with a military discount available) and are available for admission, but volunteers are needed to help the balloon pilots set up. Parking is free.
