Atlantic City is known for its casinos and nightlife, but there’s also plenty of kid-friendly things to do with your crew. Beyond the beach and boardwalk, which was recently named one of the best by Travel + Leisure, families can check out free events like the air show and fireworks, a hilarious Slippery Stairs competition, World Cup watch parties and concerts all summer long.

Families can line up on the beach with blankets and chairs to watch as high speed military jets and aerobatic airplanes soar above the shore – like a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor and U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II – from 12 to 3 pm May 29 to 31. Admission is free, unless you want to be in the shade under a tent along the fly line, for which tickets are needed.

If you’ve caught Slippery Stairs on ESPN lately, you already know how funny it is. Contestants race up a soap-covered staircase while getting sprayed with liquids and knocked back down by their opponents. It’s messy, silly and all about bragging rights. This is also free, and fun-seekers of any age can sign up to play on May 29. Or, you can watch from the sidelines, where there will be live music and snacks.

From June 13 to 28, the entire state will be celebrating the best in music, art, film and comedy through a series of performances in Atlantic City, Newark, Freehold and Asbury Park. Concerts, parties and workshops will be planned for AC, the “Shore” part of the festival.
Watch major soccer matches at restaurants throughout AC. Keep a lookout for watch parties and restaurant promos happening from June 11 to July 19.

North Beach Fireworks Spectacular
The annual fireworks show will be held on June 26 along the north end of the Atlantic City Boardwalk, starting at 9 pm. There will be live music, drink specials, and other activities throughout the North Beach boardwalk area.
Return of WWE Televised Events
For the fist time in almost 20 years, WWE is broadcasting its live shows from AC to the rest of the world. Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown will both be held and taped on Monday, June 29, at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. AC hosted WrestleMania® V in 1989, WrestleMania IV in 1988 and other WWE live events, but the last televised show was SmackDown in 2008.

There’s a waterfront park along the back bays of AC across from the state marina and Coast Guard station that not many people know about. But it’s great for waterfront dining, fishing, sightseeing cruises (or look for dolphins from the shoreline) and parasailing. This is also where the Atlantic City Aquarium sits, a favorite for little animal lovers.
