It may surprise your kids to know there are plenty of STEM lessons they can learn from bubbles, and they will all be on display during The Gazillion Bubble Show.
Guinness World Record holders, bubble artists, scientists and siblings Deni and Melody Yang are taking their show on the road from New York, coming to the Mayo Performing Arts Center this weekend.
The show will offer fun and interactive lessons on surface tension, geometry and light. Bubbles are round because the soapy water inside is trying to take up the least amount of space, and a sphere is the perfect shape for that. When you blow air into the bubble, it gets trapped, creating a pocket of air surrounded by the soapy layer and this trapped air makes the bubble float. The colors you see on bubbles are like a rainbow party – they happen because of light interacting with the thin soap film. And the bubbles are strong yet flexible because of how the molecules are arranged.
The show features high-energy music, lasers and lights.
The Gazillion Bubble Show will take the stage at 11 am, 2 pm and 5 pm on February 25 at Mayo Performing Arts Center, 100 South St., Morristown. Tickets range from $25-$50.
