There’s a pizza place in South Jersey that went “underground” for a while before opening a storefront in the past 14 months. Now, Squares & Fare in Somers Point, which calls itself “legit”, has been named one of the Best New Restaurants in the country for 2026, according to USA Today’s 10Best poll.

Squares & Fare is gaining attention for its Original Menu pizza (traditional, vodka-roni, black truffle and verdissimo white pies) and specials like Hot Votta (vodka sauce, longhots and ricotta salata) and Pepper Shooter (blistered longhots, prosciutto, ricotta salata and mozzarella).

There are also Test Slices you can sample before they hit the menu for real (the current slice has raspberry prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, and raspberry balsamic vinegar from Olive and Grape).

Some of its fans are calling it the best Sicilian-style pizza in the state, and even beyond the NJ border. The crust is thick and flaky, and the pizza is made with 24-month aged parmigiano, Cobram Estate olive oil, and scratch-made sauces.
