Melissa Roberto, DMD
At Rockaway Orthodontics, Dr. Melissa Roberto provides high-quality orthodontic treatment in a warm, nurturing environment. Recently expanded to welcome three new staff members, the practice tailors treatment to each patient’s individual needs. Dr. Roberto and her team take the time to answer questions, and always invite parents to remain with their child during appointments.
“As our practice grows, we remain committed to the same vision: to make orthodontic visits pleasant, stress-free and rewarding for patients and their parents,” says the Rockaway mother of two. “We want our practice to feel like a home away from home.”
Putting Families First
Passionate about her local community, Dr. Roberto participates in many events. She sponsors programs, such as the Harlem Wizards’ Trick-Hoops and Alley-Oops show, which brings families together for a day of basketball fun, and she hosts an Operation Gratitude event, which encourages patients to donate Halloween candy and cards to soldiers deployed overseas.
“There’s a strong sense of community in our office—so many of our families live here in the local community and have referred our practice to their friends,” she says.
Rockaway Orthodontics offers interest-free treatment financing and a no-down payment option. The all-digital practice uses the latest technologies, including metal, ceramic, lingual and self-ligating braces, Invisalign, interceptive orthodontics, TMD treatment, surgical orthodontics and TADs. “We want to alleviate parents’ anxieties about everything from treatment to financing,” Dr. Roberto says.
Where Great Smiles Begin
Dr. Roberto graduated from Trenton State College, now TCNJ. She earned her DMD and orthodontic specialty certificate at UMDNJ.
“I went to dental school because I remember how much my personal experience with orthodontics boosted my confidence as a teenager,” she says. “The expression that comes across our patients’ faces when they see their beautiful new smile for the first time is incredibly rewarding.”

“Dr. Roberto has an amazing way of talking to kids and making them feel special while informing parents of updates. ” ~Margarita, Rockaway
“Dr. Roberto is one of the most caring and professional physicians who spends her time answering all questions and most importantly, speaks directly to the kids, not just the parent, so the child understands the importance of orthodontic compliance with their braces, retainers and general oral health. She’s backed by a wonderfully professional and efficient office staff from the front end to her orthodontic assistants.” ~Diane, Oak Ridge
“Dr. Roberto is super smart. She found an extra tooth on my daughter’s X-ray that the dentist didn’t even see! She and her staff use technology to make life easy with appointment reminders, check-ins, billing and confirmations. They also layer fun games, like letting the kids wear their t-shirt to the office and giving points for gift cards. Plus, it’s so nice to have a cup of coffee when you’re waiting for your kid to finish!” ~Laura, Rockaway
“Dr. Roberto makes more appointments and longer appointments for our daughter who has a disability. She knows that our daughter is extremely anxious about being at the orthodontist’s office, so she adds extra visits so that we can get our daughter more comfortable. We’ve had to schedule two additional appointments so far to put an expander in because our daughter cries, complains and even tries to get out of the chair. Dr. Roberto and her staff are more than patient with our child. They even dance with her in the waiting area (a dance party with blasting music) as a motivator.” ~Rachel, Rockaway
“Her integrity, caring manner and skill base. Amazingly talented and knowledgeable. Excellent way with her patients. Honest with the needs of each individual that comes through the door. Great results and office staff handles it all!” ~Beth, Rockaway
“Plain and simple, not pushy, gives options and connects with my teenager.” ~Diane, Mountain Lakes
“She takes more than enough time to thoroughly talk to me and informs my child about what’s going on during the visit and what happens next. Very friendly.” – Tina, Wharton
