A new survey is confirming what many of us already know. We in New Jersey have endless love and gratitude for our mamas. According to Mixbook, a photo book company, New Jersey places third in a ranking of states whose residents have the best relationship with their mothers.
The company surveyed 2,021 people who have a biological mom, adoptive mom, surrogate, stepmother or other special woman in their life to determine their bonds, support, connection, love and all the memories they make. Participants were asked “How would you describe your relationship with your mom?” and “How often do you typically communicate with your mom?” Each answer choice was weighted, with a total possible score for all questions being 100. The higher the score, the closer respondents in that state were to their moms.
Maryland came in at No. 1 with 87.06, with New Jersey close behind at No. 2 with 85.22 points. Tennessee is No. 3 with 83.94 points.
Of the respondents who reported having great relationships with their moms, many said they share life updates, communicate well and often, celebrate holidays and milestones, and share all their emotions. About 46 percent see their moms at least once a week.
These are the states where people are closest with their moms, according to the survey:
- Maryland
