Longtime fans of Mountain Creek Resort may have fond memories of Cannonball Falls and the Tarzan Swings. This summer, relive those memories with your own children when the two popular attractions return to a new area called The Gorge.

According to the Mountain Creek website, the two rides date back to 1918, when some local kids discovered two natural swimming holes on Vernon Peak fed by the waters of the “mountain creek.” The vines hanging over one end of the deep pool and the popularity of Tarzan in the movies tempted the kids to grab hold and thus, the Tarzan Swings were born. Not long after that, a fallen tree was hollowed out into a slide and suspended over the other end of the pool.
After a few years’ hiatus, both rides will be open to the public again this summer.

Water lovers can get on line for their other faves, like Colorado River Rapids, Zero G, High Tide Wavepool, and Canyon Cliff Jump, along with attractions for younger kids.

Waterpark After Dark for 21+ will return from July 11 to August 8, giving adults a sans-kids late-night adventure at the park.

Mountain Creek Waterpark reopens on June 20, which is the first day of summer. The park will be open daily through September 1, closing at 6 pm every day. Full-day tickets start at $49.99. Advance online reservations are required to guarantee entry. Waterpark Season Passes are available for a limited time at $89.99, and include unlimited access to the park for the season plus free general parking and discounts on food and retail.

Mountain Creek Resort is located at 200 Rte. 94 in Vernon Twp. Aside from the waterpark, the Mountain Creek Bike Park and Mountain Creek Zip Tours are open during the warm weather, plus ski slopes in the winter.
