Have kids who are thrill seekers? The Great Gorge’s zipline and ropes course reopens for the season this weekend, offering a high-flying way (literally) for you and your crew to spend time in nature.
The aerial obstacle course at TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park has 10 routes that vary among five levels of difficulty, ranging from Purple Digger’s Journey and Explorer Alley to Black’s Driller’s Dare.
More experienced adventure-seekers can buckle in for a zipline ride along the Black Creek Flyer, which has 15 different lines that range from 50 to 150 feet long. There are four easy-to-cross bridges, three ladders and different platforms that go from 5 to 50 feet above the ground, and you’ll soar through the trees.
Feeling a bit nervous? Rest assured everyone gets a personalized lesson from a TreEscape instructor, who will explain the harness system and how to get through each adventure safely.
Little ones can spend time in the Kids’ Park, geared toward outdoorsy kids ages 4 to 6. The two purple-level aerial courses are located here, and there are 20 obstacles for kids whose parents can walk alongside them as they climb.
If daytime seems too calm, opt for a three-hour night climb where you can climb and zipline through the park, which will only be lit by rope lights in the trees.
Remember to dress appropriately in comfortable clothing and sneakers, and leave jewelry at home. There are free lockers available, while supplies last.
To celebrate the season opening, TreEscape announced its first-ever Golden Ticket Giveaway. Anyone who books and climbs during May will be entered to win unlimited access for the entire season. The winner will be selected at random after May 31.
TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park is located at 414 County Road 517, Vernon Twp. The 2025 season opens on Saturday, May 3. Advanced reservations are required by visiting www.treescapeadventurepark.com.
