Landmark College (LC) in Putney, Vermont, is renowned as the first college for students who learn differently, and offers a variety of summer programs for high school and college students with learning differences (LD) or executive function challenges.
Landmark’s summer programs help students identify their strengths and differences, build social skills and learn strategies to be successful in the classroom and beyond, whether it’s writing and study skills, social development, or the ability to self-advocate.
“Students learn how to overcome their challenges, but also how to tap into their unique talents. It’s very empowering for them,” says Eve Khan, academic director for LC’s Summer Bridge Experience.
Landmark’s summer programs emphasize executive function skills, including time management, activation and organization, while offering opportunities for personal change and growth and facilitating a smooth transition to college. Students build a sense of community and belonging through collaborative assignments and extracurricular activities.
Students do not need an official diagnosis to attend Landmark College Summer Programs, and financial aid is available. At the end of each program, students receive written evaluations that help them carry the lessons over into the next step of their education journey.
“Many students leave our college program feeling confident for the first time, and they’re proud to be able to take the skills they’ve developed with them— whether they choose to remain here at Landmark or move on,” Khan says.
