Fleur de Lis Camp: A Summer of Joy, Belonging and Friendship

Meet the Camp

A classic sleepaway summer camp for girls ages 8-15, Fleur de Lis Camp is located on the shores of beautiful Laurel Lake in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. For more than 95 years, girls have made new friends, developed self-confidence and independence, and tried new things—and all while having fun and being their unique selves within a caring, supportive community.

NEW CHALLENGES AND SELF DISCOVERY

“One of the first things visitors notice when they come to our camp is how happy the girls are—they can immediately feel the sense of inner joy and the fact that our campers know that this is a place that they can let loose, explore their interests and enjoy the experience,” says Diane Foster, interim executive director.

Fleur de Lis Camp brings girls together for summers filled with play, adventure and growth. The program empowers girls to take on new challenges and discover themselves. With a maximum of 100 girls per session, campers will forge close friendships, and staff get to know each camper as an individual to support her unique interests and needs.

“We’re proud to be a camp where everyone truly gets to know each other, and the girls are able to build mixed-age friendships that last a lifetime,” Foster says. Fleur de Lis allows campers to choose their own activities—they can do a little bit of everything, or focus on their interests—to develop a sense of independence and confidence.

A COMMUNITY ROOTED IN JOY

The camp features a full range of waterfront activities, including swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, waterskiing, tubing and sailing, as well as options like archery and riflery. Visual arts options such as ceramics, sewing, knitting, stained glass and crafts. Theater is a special activity for all age groups, and the camp offers fire building, outdoor cooking and day or overnight trips.

After the regular camp season, Fleur de Lis offers a program known as Circle Week for girls who have had a parent pass away. The week is filled with typical camp activities as well as special grief-related activities designed to help girls grow in their strategies for coping with their loss.

“Part of what makes Fleur de Lis so special is that we truly emphasize the idea of joy, belonging and friendship,” Foster says. “A lot of the pressures that girls face at school are just not part of their camp world—it’s a safe place where they can feel accepted for who they are.”
