There are tons of great holiday events taking place around NJ, but Wildwood is especially magical this time of year!
The towns of the Wildwoods are known for their beautiful beaches during the summer, so why not head to a Family Holiday Beach Bonfire? Bundled up to sit on the sand, listen to music and take free photos with Santa.
There are so many great holiday light walk-thrus and drive-thrus around the state, but the Holiday Light Show at Wildwood’s Winter Wonderland at Holly Beach Park is one you won’t want to miss. The show which is synchronized with music will run every half hour and there will be complimentary hot chocolate and popcorn, as well as a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Claus.
On December 2, the Greater Wildwood Jaycees will host a Christmas Parade where you’ll see floats decorated with Christmas flair, or of popular kids’ movies (Minions and Toy Story were featured in years past) and of course Jolly Ol’ St. Nick! The following day the Jaycees will host the Downtown Wildwood Christmas in the Plaza celebration. The event includes holiday-themed movies, photos with Santa, children’s crafts, face painting, a magician, children’s choir performances, entertainment by the Avalon String Band and a tree lighting.
The Elks are holding a window decorating contest, so if you’re near the convention center check out the creative holiday designs painted by local Wildwood students. It’ll be great for your kids to feel inspired by other young artists.
And of course, one of the great things about the Jersey shore is the awesome NJ-based souvenirs found at the boardwalk shops. On Small Business Saturday (Nov. 25) support local artisans and crafters at the Wildwoods Holiday Shopping Village. Hopefully you saved room in your car’s trunk to bring home some handmade holiday gifts.
While visiting, check out some of the popular restaurants in the area. Warm up with New England clam chowder at The Beach Creek Oyster Bar & Grille, try some Greek cuisine at George’s Place, treat yourself to blueberry balsamic glazed salmon at The Boathouse, or get the kids some chicken tenders or mac & cheese at The Swine Bar.
Christmas in Wildwood is definitely worth the drive and if you decide to stay over, there are special room rates available. Many hotels and motels in the area are open year-round, like the Skylark Resort Motel or the Enchantras Bed & Breakfast or Champagne Island Resort.
There are five weekends of festivities planned so you have plenty of opportunities to create family memories.
