DAVID MICHAEL HOWARTH PHOTOGRAPHY / Night Forms at Grounds For Sculpture

Grounds for Sculpture is a stunning, 42-acre garden that merges art and nature together. Its immersive Night Forms exhibit from 2021 was a big hit with families looking to experience the grounds in a whole new way after dark. In conjunction with Klip Collective, Grounds for Sculpture will present the third and final installment of Night Forms starting next week.

We caught a sneak peek and it is nothing short of spectacular! During the day, Grounds for Sculpture is a beautiful outdoor park filled with massive lifelike sculptures everywhere you look. If you plan a visit after-hours this season, you’re in for a treat of multi-sensory light and sound experiences that use projection mapping to bring 13 works of art to life in ways you don’t expect.

The grounds are just magical. Walk at your own pace along guided paths, keeping your eyes peeled for sparkling lights and ears open for pulsing techno music. Stand in front of an object for 10 minutes and experience different variations of the projections the entire time.

Some of the most awesome displays have you walk through a tunnel, light up the faces of statues, and create a colorful 3-D effect with geometric shapes.

Visitors are invited to write music, jot down some poetry or create a sketch while walking along the paths. You’ll quickly see how nature, architecture and art come together to inspire you.

KEN EK / Night Forms at Grounds For Sculpture

So far, 90,000 visitors have come to see Night Forms and half of those came to Grounds For Sculpture for the first time! This exhibit has transformed Grounds for Sculpture into a year-round destination.

The walk-through takes at least a half hour, but you can stay as long as you’d like. Use your smartphone to scan a QR code to learn more about works on view along the Night Forms route. Make sure you’re bundled up, and then grab a cup of hot chocolate from Van Gogh’s Cafe. Rat’s Restaurant is on-site for a special dinner. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a Monet painting once there.
