Dining out will always be one of our favorite things to do, but it hits different on Mother’s Day. Mixbook polled 3,014 mothers, asking them where they’d like to dine out on their day, and three New Jersey restaurants made the list.
No. 1 in New Jersey, Haven Riverfront Restaurant and Bar in Edgewater, has gorgeous views of the NYC skyline, and you can dine al fresco by the Hudson River. Try the pretzel-crusted fried calamari, Greek feta & dragon fruit salad, South African lobster tail, pan-roasted Bakkafrost salmon, Bangkok roasted Long Island duck, and cast iron pan-seared 14-ounce rib eye. Haven ranks No. 26 on the national list.
Next up is The Frog and The Peach in New Brunswick, ranking 33rd on the overall list. The atmosphere is next level, since the restaurant is inside a historic 19th-century industrial building. There’s also a pretty dining room and garden room. The three-course prix fixe menu for adults is supplemented by a separate three-course menu designed for kids 7 and up. Options include lobster bisque, cured tuna sashimi, scallops with peanut noodle sushi, pan-roasted Griggstown chicken, grilled lamb loin, crème brulee, and peach sorbet.
No. 3 on the NJ list, but 108 overall, Landmark Tavern at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge, has beautiful views of the hills of Warren Twp. It has a farmhouse feel, serving comfort food dishes that are locally sourced. Mother’s Day brunch will offer baked goods, a selection of fruit, bagels, vegetable crudite, artisanal cheeses, a charcuterie board, omelets, Belgian waffles, salads, pastas, carved meats, and a dessert station (try Stone House’s seasonal chocolate bark).
