Flounder Brewing Co. in Hillsborough is adding a sweet new event to its calendar: Pours & Ponytails, a class where dads can learn how to do ponytails and braids with help from instructors at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School.
The first session is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, from 7 to 8:30 pm, and proceeds will benefit the school’s scholarship fund (beer is an additional cost). The event is part of the brewery’s broader push to make its grounds a community gathering place, with programming that ranges from trivia and yoga to live music, book clubs and pop-up markets.
“Craft breweries like ours are about so much more than what’s in the glass,” said Jeremy Lees, owner of Flounder Brewing. “They’re about creating a place where people can gather, learn something new, hear incredible music, share traditions, bring their families, meet neighbors, and feel like they’re part of something. That’s what makes your local brewery different — and that’s exactly what we continue to build here at Flounder.”
- Puzzle Wars: a monthly competitive puzzle night

“We’ve always believed the brewery should be a place for everyone,” Lees said. “Whether you’re here for a quiet afternoon with friends, a family outing, a food truck and live music night, a book club, an Irish session, a concert, a history lecture, a Sunday pop-up, or something as unique as Pours & Ponytails, we want people to feel like there’s always something here for them.”
The 16-beer menu (which does rotate) includes Trail Maker American Pale Ale, a citrus-forward Fred Hazy IPA, the caramel/toffee/pear Hogs Head Bitter, and Piece of Cake Milk Stout. There are options for the kids, too, like Flounder Brewing-made root beer soda, orange cream and Hop Pop hop water; in addition to commercial sodas and seltzers.
Flounder Brewing Co. is located at Carriage Farm in a restored 250-year-old Dutch barn at 2 Clerico Ln., Hillsborough. For more information on upcoming events, live music, food truck schedules, ticketed experiences, and special programming throughout the year, visit flounderbrewing.com.
