Looking to go camping with the kids, but not quite ready to set up tents, campsites and more? These spots offer glamping sites to keep you comfortable overnight while enjoying the great outdoors all day.

 

Holly Shores Camping Resort

491 Rte. 9, Cape May
Go glamping down the shore at one of Holly Shores Camping Resort’s safari glamping tents. The 16’x20’ tents come with a king-sized bed, two twin beds, a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, half bath, fan, air conditioning and heat. The campground provides showers in their bathhouse. Each tent also has an eight-foot outside covered deck with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, a fire ring, and an outside charcoal grill. They sleep four people. Pets are not allowed.

A Yurt is placed on an elevated platform on top of a natural grass field, surrounded by beautiful wildflowers. Inside you’ll find comfortable blankets, a full-size bed, and a heater that keeps you toasty on colder nights. If you explore the area, you’ll come upon riverfront towns, flea markets, antiquing, river rafting, kayaking, farmers’ markets, apple picking, pumpkin picking and great hiking.

KOA Philadelphia South

KOA campgrounds across the country offer your typical campsites, but many like the NJ location also have luxe glamping tents, sweet for a romantic or quiet getaway, but while still giving you access to tons of amenities. If you are looking to bring the kids, you can also opt to stay in one of their Deluxe Cabins which are filled with all the comforts of home, but in a scenic woodland spot. With your own kitchen, bathroom and indoor plumbing, these cabins will make even the reluctant camper happy. The KOA campsite is located just 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia and offers a pool, fishing pond, bike rentals and even wifi (so you don’t feel like you are roughing it too much). There are also games for the family, like cornhole, ladder ball, horseshoes and a playground. And it’s pet friendly and there’s a dog park so your pup can run around.

Glamping Treehouse

Glamp in the woods and near the beach at this glamping treehouse. The house is equipped with three bunk beds, one couch that pulls out into a bed, and a half bath. Showers and a laundry room are provided on the campsite the treehouse is located on. The house also has a kitchen with a table that seats five, a stove, sink, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and cooking utensils. There is also a 19-inch flat-screen TV for entertainment. Relax on the house’s outdoor deck, which has a fire ring and grill. With the beach nearby and the campsite’s recreational room and fishing and crabbing bridge, there are fun activities for everyone in your family. This treehouse allows six guests maximum, including children, infants and pets (additional charge). 

New York

Firelight Camps

If you’re looking for something more luxurious, try one of Firelight Camps’ safari tents. The King Tents are better for couples or families of three, with a maximum occupancy of three people, whereas the Double Queen Tents are ideal for larger families or groups, with a maximum occupancy of four people. The tents have hardwood floors, either king or queen king beds with crisp linens and decorative blankets, and a tented porch with rocking chairs, a desk and chair and electric lanterns. Cots can be added to your tent if needed. Your stay comes with complimentary continental breakfast, immediate access to nearby hiking trails, a bathhouse with showers, toilets and bath products, and lanterns with USB ports for charging. If you would prefer a tent with access to electricity, you can pay extra and stay in one of four tents which have electric heaters, fans, floor lamps, and outlets. However, the lobby and lounge also offers a phone charging station, along with a water dispenser, beverage station, communal campfires, games, trail maps and activity information. 

Tipi at Bellfire Farm

Enjoy a fun and unique glamping experience at Bellfire’s Tipi. This 18-foot Tipi has two twin beds, wool blankets, custom-made furniture, a wood stove and cedar floors. According to the Tipi’s Airbnb page, its hosts were inspired by the Sioux Native American tribe’s creativity and innovation when designing this Tipi. Ten percent of every booking is donated to Native American Rights Funds. The maximum number of guests is four, so if your family or group has more than two people, prepare to share beds or bring sleeping bags. You’ll be comfortable in rain or shine- there are smoke flaps on the Tipi which will cover its top in case of bad weather. Amenities include a solar shower and cabin in the field, a private outhouse with a wash station and toilet, a kitchenette with a camping stove, a tea kettle, drinking water, complimentary coffee and tea, a coffee dripper and paper cups and plates. Candles and camping lanterns are also provided for time outside of the Tipi. The Tipi is located in an area perfect for relaxing and reflecting- near a creek and surrounded by maple trees and a wildflower field. Sit in Adirondack chairs near the private fire pit and make s’mores with your loved one(s).  

Pennsylvania

Airydale Retreat

Take your pick of several glampsites at Airydale Retreat. If you’re planning to go glamping with your family, Cardinal 1 and Cardinal 2 are great options. Cardinal 1 is a tent within a treehouse-type structure equipped with a slide your children will love. It has a spacious interior, a queen bed and one set of bunk beds (both with linens and bedspreads), towels, an ice chest, covered picnic table, fire ring and propane camp stove. Cardinal 2 is a new glampsite which is a structure similar to Cardinal 1, with a slightly different layout. The Towhee glampsite is ideal for couples. This canvas tent has a covered front porch, queen bed with linens and bedspread, towels, an ice chest, small table with chairs, campfire ring, picnic table and a private outdoor shower. Airydale Retreat’s brand new glampsite-the Phoebe glampsite- is another great option if you are escaping sans kids. This tent, set on a wooden platform, has a charming appearance with a sloped canvas roof and twinkling lights. It comes with a double bed with linens and bedspread, towels, an ice chest, small table and chairs, campfire ring with chairs, and a private outdoor shower. Cooking supplies for all glampsites are provided by Airydale Retreat and compostable tableware are available for purchase. Regarding restrooms, Airydale Retreat plans on using a combination of composting toilets and port-a-pots. All glampsites are electric and pet friendly. 

Pettecote Junction Campground

If you have older children (over 12), or want a weekend getaway with your significant other, try Pettecote Junction Campground’s glamping sites. These sites consist of canvas safari tents with queen-sized beds, electricity and a coffee maker. The campground offers activities such as bike riding, canoeing and kayaking, tubing, swimming, fishing, hiking, volleyball, basketball and gaga ball.
