North Jersey

Glenview Farm

The trees that grow on the farm are usually up to 7 feet tall, or you can get a pre-cut tree that will be as tall as 12 feet. Choose from Fraser fir, concolor fir or Canaan fir. There are hayrides and bonfires, weather permitting, as well as a marshmallow roast, snack bar and a Christmas train.

Founded in 1960, owners Robert and Margaret Smith had just 20 acres of land, but when they cleared the ridge, they discovered Native American artifacts. In 2013, they relocated to a 96-acre preserved farm, focusing on planting and transplanting young trees. Today, they offer a wide variety of choose-and-cut trees. Come early, because in the past few years, this farm has sold out its stock within two days.

Starting as a dairy farm back in the 1700s, the farm was purchased in 1961 by the Albeck family who turned it into a Christmas tree farm. Now, there are 60 acres of the farm producing 10,000 trees. Cash only.

There are more than 500 trees ranging from 6 to 8 feet tall, and varieties include Canaan, Frasier, Concolor, Balsam and Korean firs, plus Norway spruce and white pine. The farm also produces raw honey and beeswax products, plus has a selection of wreaths. This year, the farm will open November 22-23 to get your tree before Thanksgiving.

There are various colors to choose from, such as pink, purple, dark blue, light blue, turquoise, magenta, red, black or white. These trees are while supplies last and are first-come, first-served. And Little Ridge Vineyards wine is available in Wyckoff’s Christmas Barn.

Brothers Randy and Charlie Brown – yes, that’s his real name – carry on the tree farm traditions started by their parents in the ‘80s. They operate 150 acres of preserved farmland that you can visit for trees, plain or decorated wreaths, grave blankets and other handmade decorations. The farm is dog-friendly, too.

Belly Acres Christmas Tree Farm

Consider this DIY tree cutting. The instructions here are simple: park in the parking lot, grab some cash, walk across the street and through the gate to the end of the driveway, enter the field, choose and cut your tree, and carry your tree back to your car. You need to bring a blanket, bag or tarp, plus rope to tie your tree, and someone strong enough to carry it out. Saws are provided, or you can bring your own handsaw.

This farm specializes in sustainably-grown Concolor Fir, Caanan Fir, Blue Spruce, White Pine and Norway Spruce trees. The farm is open from November 15 to December 21 every year, from 10 am to 5 pm, but the biggest day of the year is Tag Day (opening day) when 500 field trees are released for the season. The farm also ships Fraser Fir and balsam trees up to 18 feet tall, are one of the few farms that carry larger trees, and provide trees for outdoor lighting ceremonies (including in Ocean City).

Stone Oak Tree Farm

Usually, you can wander around 8 acres of trees to find the one that’s perfect for you. Handmade wreaths, homemade cookies, a variety of breads, local honey, soaps and bundles of wood are for sale in the timber-frame barn. Warm up by the fireplace with a free cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane. However – this year, the tree property is closed due to deer damage, but you can still visit their quaint B&B.

Sumner’s Wintergreen Tree Farm

The choose-and-cut tree farm is in between planting rotations, so for 2025 the selection will be all Frasier firs. The owner plans to open only on December 6 and 7, and possibly the 13 if supplies are available.

Wright Family Farm

Choose from a premium selection of fresh-cut Fraser fir and Balsam fir trees, from tabletop size to 12 feet tall. Then relax with free hot chocolate and cookies. Tree stands are available for purchase.
