Fall is upon us, or as Jersey Shore locals often call it, the start of local summer. We are all about a Jersey Shore summer but we also love spending time there in the offseason, too. The team at Daily Passport, a travel website, recently named its six top beach towns in the U.S. that are just as amazing during the offseason and one Jersey Shore hotspot made the list.
Asbury Park is a year-round destination thanks to its restaurants, shopping, music scene, community events and overall happening vibe.
Asbury Park has an iconic boardwalk that’s home to the Grand Arcade, Convention Hall and The Stone Pony. The city’s downtown has plenty of boutiques, restaurants, salons and a beloved bookstore.
Eating hotspots include Toast City Diner for breakfast faves, Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten for a pint, Johnny Mac’s for mac & cheese, Coney Waffle for gigantic ice cream and waffle creations, Porta for next-level pizza and Pop’s Garage for authentic Mexican.
The Silverball Museum (pinball arcade) and the Asbury Splash Park are fun spots for the kids. For a little R&R, book a scalp massage at Artemis Ethos.
The Sea.Hear.Now. Festival is a huge drawn every September. Were you lucky enough to see Bruce Springsteen this time? Asbury Park Bazaar hosts fairs all year, including for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. Halloween features the mega Asbury Park Zombie Walk and a Glow Party & Night Market. Book a ghost walking tour for a spooky good time. Christmas time includes Black Friday shopping, a Santa Run along the boardwalk, a winter farmers market and lots of holiday brunches.
In the summer, the boardwalk livens up with outdoor dining, carnivals, surfing and swimming and fun play dates at the local dog park.
