A Central Jersey restaurant is becoming a destination to meet pro athletes. Woodbridge Brewing Co. hosts several meet-and-greet events throughout the month where you can get an autograph of a current or retired sports superstar and take a photo, too.
Recent events featured NY Mets great John Franco (pictured above), NY Mets and Yankees legend Darryl Strawberry, and NJ Devil Ken “Mr. Devil” Daneyko. Upcoming stars include New York Knicks star Charles Oakley on March 23, NY Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba on March 24, NY Yankees All-Star Mariano Rivera on April 13, Mets centerfielder Harrison Bader on April 14, and former NY Yankee Jose Canseco on April 27.
The process is simple: either order tickets online or buy on site. One ticket entitles you to one autograph; you can bring something of your own to get signed, or there will be a limited supply of merchandise for sale. Fans typically bring bats, pictures they already have with the players, posed photos, balls, jerseys and posters.
Each ticket is numbered and you wait for your batch to be called. You can have dinner in the meantime as you plan what you and the kids might say when you get to meet one of your favorite athletes. There is no obligation to order food or drinks; you can also just hang out in the main lobby until your number is called.
Most ticket prices range from $59 to $99 and it’s per item, not per person, so your whole fam can join in on the fun for one price.
Make sure you wear your favorite jersey – and try not to get starstruck!
Woodbridge Brewing Co. is located at 33 Main St., Woodbridge. There is parking located behind the restaurant near the train station. Check the schedule of stars on Instagram.
