It’s the most wonderful time of the year and two New Jersey towns have been voted the most festive at Christmas time.
Mixbook surveyed 3,000 families to determine America’s 75 most “Christmassy” towns. Cape May ranked No. 53 and Morristown was not far behind at No. 64.
Cape May is charming any time of year, with its grand Victorian homes and shoreline beaches. During the holiday season, the historic district is adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and festive decorations.
The highlight is the annual Cape May Christmas Candlelight House Tours, where you can tour beautifully decorated inns and homes. Cape May’s Washington Street Mall is a hub of quaint shops and boutiques for the most idyllic holiday shopping.
Make a stop at Congress Hall, America’s first seaside resort. Winter Wonderland here includes Breakfast with Santa, Congress Hall Express rides and Santa’s Workshop.
Cape May MAC (Museums+Arts+Culture) has been bringing a Victorian Christmas to town for 50 years. Holidays in Cape May feature all the wreaths, trees and trimmings of a Victorian Christmas with historic home and trolley tours, special events with Santa, and more.
Morristown is another historic Garden State town with a fantastic downtown. The Morristown Green, which is a hub throughout the year, is decorated beautifully during the holidays and includes a giant Christmas tree. The annual Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green offers festive activities, including ice sculpture demonstrations, visits from Santa and horse-drawn carriage rides.

The Mayo Performing Arts Center adds to the festive spirit with seasonal shows and concerts.
We also love Bethlehem, PA, which ranked 9th on the list. Part of Lehigh Valley, some of the best attractions are Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem, a Euro-inspired outdoor market; horse and carriage rides from Bethlehem Carriage Company; and the Historic Hotel Bethlehem, which is decorated with 35,000 lights and decked-out trees.
Nearby is Koziar’s Christmas Village, a winter wonderland located on a farm in Bernville. You’ll walk through the paths of Christmas houses, train sets, storyboards, inflatables and gift shops that channel the North Pole.
These are the Top 10 Most Christmassy Towns in America, according to Mixbook:

- Durango, CO
- Lake Placid, NY
