It’s Women’s History Month, and Newark is celebrating influential females in the city’s history with a new mural project.
Members of Project For Empty Space unveiled a multi-façade mural installation by artists Armisey Smith and Rachel Alban that highlights the role of Black and Brown women in the Brick City.
The project came together after the two artists hosted a free artmaking workshop in the spring of 2023 that invited women and girls of all ages to participate in creating art.
Golden Life lies between the intersection of Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd and the Route 280 off-ramp; it’s one of the busiest highways in the area so be sure to take time to take in these stunning works of art.
