These NJ Cities Have Some of the Best Pizzerias In The Country

Check them out on Friday, which is National Pizza Pie Day!

RAZZA PIZZA ARTIGINALE

Friday is National Pizza Pie Day! Not that we ever need an excuse to eat pizza but where better to celebrate than at one of the best pizzerias in New Jersey?

A recent study by Pizzello.com sliced up an in-depth analysis of average Google reviews from the nation’s 500 most populated towns and cities. Six NJ cities made the list for the cheesiest, crunchiest, most flavorful pizzas in the country.

Newark tops the list of cities known for its pizza, placing 58th nationally. Their traditional and modern pies are as good (really!) as the pizzerias in New York City. We recommend Mulberry Street Pizza, which has chicken alfredo, cheesesteak and white mozzarella/ricotta on the menu.

Elizabeth was next, at No. 68. Since 1950, three generations of fathers and sons at Santillo’s Brick Oven Pizza have been making pizza in a gigantic antique oven. The traditional, thin-crust Sicilian pizza and the fresh-baked bread make it a must-try. They are temporarily closed due to a fire but check back for updates.

Next up is Jersey City, at No. 122. You may have waited in line to get a slice at Razza Pizza Artiginale, which was named one of the best in the world by an Italian website. Tino’s Artisan Pizza Co. makes a pizzette that comes in a 12-inch Roman flatbread, 11-inch gluten-free or 11-inch gluten-free cauliflower that you can top with eggplant, meatballs, truffles, cremini mushrooms or make-your-own. Some of the more unique options at Tony Boloney’s are Punkin’ Butta, with truffle pumpkin sauce, dry aged mozzarella, burrata, balsamic honey and toasted pumpkin seeds; and Jewish Cowboy with 8-hour smoked brisket, Passover sauce, Babushka beet horseradish, smoked mozzarella and parsley. Yes, please: We’ll take one of each.

Camden ranks at No. 175, known for its traditional pizzas. Get a Little Slice of New York, with its garlic parmesan chicken pizza or sausage & spinach Sicilian pizza.

Clifton is on the list at No. 212 thanks to its East Coast-style pizzas. Clifton Village Pizza has racks of pizza ready for you, ranging from chicken parm to sausage and peppers to mixed veggie.

Paterson isn’t too far behind at No. 240. Patsy’s Tavern has rustic, simple and unforgettable pies – plus rice balls and broccoli rabe.
