These are NJ’s Best K-8 Schools According to US News

U.S. News published rankings and data on more than 80,000 public elementary and middle schools

US News & World Report recently came out with it’s Best K-12 Schools rankings and over 700 New Jersey elementary and middle schools were included on the list.

The report showed rankings and data on more than 80,000 public elementary and middle schools across the US, and schools were ranked at the state and district levels.

Paterson’s School 28 took the top spot as the highest ranking elementary and middle school in NJ.

Here are the top 25 elementary schools in New Jersey:

  1. School 28, Paterson Public School District
  2. Sara M. Gilmore Academy, Union School District
  3. Thomas Edison Energysmart Charter School
  4. Mendham Township Elementary School, Mendham Township School District
  5. Cornelia F. Bradford School, Jersey City Public Schools
  6. William F. Halloran School No. 22, Elizabeth Public Schools
  7. Washington School, Millburn Township School District
  8. Brookside School, Allendale Public School District
  9. Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary School, Summit Public School District
  10. Monmouth Junction Elementary School, South Brunswick School District
  11. Wyoming School, Millburn Township School District
  12. Forrestdale School, Rumson Borough School District
  13. Princeton Charter School, Princeton
  14. Glenwood School, Millburn Township School District
  15. Clara E. Coleman School, Glen Rock Public School District
  16. George Washington School, Mahwah Township Public School District
  17. Upper School</b, Englewood School District
  18. Henry B. Milnes Elementary School, Fair Lawn Public School District
  19. The Gray Charter School, Newark

  10. Science Park High School, Newark Public School District
  11. Terence C. Reilly School No 7, Elizabeth Public Schools
  12. Briarcliff Middle School, Mountain Lakes Public School District
  13. Johnstone Elementary School, Vineland Public School District
  14. Ho-Ho-Kus Public School, Ho-Ho-Kus School District
  15. Academy I, Jersey City Public Schools
  16. Sara M. Gilmore Academy, Union City School District

US News determined the rankings by using data from the US Department of Education to analyze math and reading proficiency and math and reading performance. It’s important to note that the data used was from 2018-2019 so changes due to COVID were not factored into the rankings.
