If you’re looking for a day trip beyond the Jersey Shore, Coney Island has so much to offer. Besides the beach, there’s also the New York Aquarium and the Luna Park in Coney Island amusement park. The park first opened in 1903 and is now part of the Amusement District in Coney Island. It celebrates the history of Brooklyn, New York as well as amusement parks in general.
This summer will be even more significant as Luna Park in Coney Island celebrates 120 years of fun and history, including a major expansion. You may have taken a ride on the iconic Cyclone roller coaster or The Thunderbolt, but you can also try New York City’s first 50-foot ropes course, called Sky Tykes and Sky Chaser; the family-friendly Tony’s Express roller coaster; and Leti’s Treasure water flume. There are also new food and drink locations, including Flywheel Bar & Grill and the Urban Legend open-air beer garden, all along the Atlantic Ocean.
Luna Park in Coney Island will unveil its new attractions at 6 pm on June 7. Everyone is invited to attend the free event, which will include carnival-style performances, music, entertainment and treats at the new main entrance of Luna Park on Stillwell Avenue.
Admission to Luna Park in Coney Island is free, with ride prices starting at $3. Luna Park is located in Coney Island at 1000 Surf Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Park hours vary depending on the day and the weather.
And while you’re in Coney Island, entertain the kids at a sideshow circus. And of course, no trip is complete without a hot dog and fries from Nathan’s Famous.
