We’re so over winter, and this weekend’s Philadelphia Flower Show is exactly the mix of flowers and sunshine we need right now.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society will showcase its mega floral exhibit with stunning displays, gardening presentations, info on sustainability and innovation, and tons of opportunities to shop for your own plants.
This year’s theme is Rooted: Origins of American Gardening.

Aside from all the floral photo opps, this is a learning experience, too. Get tips from professional gardeners, or take an early morning photography tour. Head to a Pottery Party with Tu Bloom and take home what you make. Treat yourself at the Bloom Bar, where a designer will fit you for a flower crown.

Make your visit a more hands-on experience, by making your own floral crown, terrarium, candle or bouquet along Artisan Row.

Kids have lots to do, too. They can feed butterflies, plant seeds, listen to storytime, or join March 1st’s Family Frolic through the exhibits.

And on March 6, you can bring your dog for Fido Friday. There will be plenty of dog-friendly treats, too.

This year’s Flowers After Hours theme is The Folklore of the Forest. On March 7, dance the night away in a fairytale forest. Open to adults only.

The Philadelphia Flower Show is happening February 28 to March 8 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St., Philadelphia, PA. Hours are 10 am to 8 pm February 28 to March 7, and 10 am to 6 pm on March 8. Tickets can be timed/dated or any day flex, and start at $54 for adults, $30 for students ages 18-24 with valid ID, and $25 for kids ages 5-17.
