The Pediatric Orthopedic Center provides patients with the highest quality of care for orthopedic issues related to bones, joints and muscles. The practice treats children and adolescents with sports injuries, fractures, hip dysplasia, clubfoot, scoliosis and other conditions using minimally invasive and non-surgical approaches. “Our philosophy is to treat each child as our own, and provide a safe return to normal activities as quickly as possible,” says Dr. Mark Rieger, founding partner, first division chief of pediatric orthopedics at Morristown Medical Center and the only physician in the state approved on Ponseti Method’s website for treating clubfoot.
State-of-the-Art Technology
Nominated as a NJ’s Favorite Kids’ Docs for many years, the doctors provide care at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, Saint Barnabas and Overlook Medical Centers, NYU Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital and Short Hills Surgical Center.
The practice uses the most innovative, non-operative, minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques to allow for rapid diagnosis and treatment. Spinal X-rays are performed using the practice’s low-dose radiation EOS Imaging system—the only one of its kind in northern NJ. Other technologies include BEAR™ for ACL repair and FIREFLY™ to minimize complications during spinal surgery.
Pioneers in Orthopedic Care
The practice is home to nine musculoskeletal clinicians, including a nationally certified orthopedic physician assistant, eight pediatric orthopedists and a pediatric foot and ankle specialist. The doctors lecture to physicians locally and nationally and serve as mentors to medical students and other health professionals. “We offer the resources of a world-class care center to our patients locally, and the size of our group has enabled us to become pioneers in the field of pediatric orthopedics,” he says.
