Last week, Cosmopolitan magazine and SIXT named Asbury Park a great New Jersey town for a “momcation.” This week, three more towns are added to the list of Mother’s Day getaways, since Present.com did its own survey of where stressed-out mothers would like to escape.

Present.com surveyed 3,025 mothers to find out where they’d like to relax, among small towns, charming areas and nature-filled retreats.

Cape May is No. 1 in New Jersey for its charming Victorian homes, beautiful (and free!) beaches, cute Washington Street Mall shopping area and stunning sunsets over the ocean and lakes. Nature lovers can whale watch along the shoreline, visit the lighthouse at Cape May Point State Park, or birdwatch at South Cape May Meadows. You can explore the Emlen Physick Estate, especially its lush gardens this time of year. Treat yourself to a stay at Congress Hall after a sunset dinner at Beach Plum Farm.

No. 2 Frenchtown is ultra serene along the Delaware River, with opportunities to go tubing, biking and cycling. Visit any of the art galleries, like ArtYard or MFA Galleries.  Start your day with farm-to-table brunch at Lovin’ Oven, grab a glass of wine at Beneduce Vineyards (in nearby Pittstown), then dress up for Mediterranean cuisine at FinnBar. The National Hotel Restaurant Bar is a sweet and tranquil spot for an overnight stay.

The No. 3 place on the list is High Point State Park, which offers a view of NJ, NY and PA when you hike to the top. The mountains and forests in the distance make for pretty selfies, while moms will feel accomplished getting to the top of the Kittatinny Ridge, which is 1,800 feet above sea level. You can have a picnic, or plan to camp out along the Appalachian Trail or the Cedar Swamp Trail.
